ViaductWelcome to the North Carolina High Country, one of the most popular and pristine sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The 125-mile stretch through the High Country proudly features some of the most popular attractions found on the Parkway, including Linn Cove Viaduct (MP 304.4), Moses Cone Manor (MP 293.5), Doughton Park (MP 238.5-244.7), Linville Falls (MP 316.4), and many other picturesque locations.

Just off the Parkway, you'll find a plethora of unique shops, fun activities, comfortable lodgings and fine cuisine to enjoy. Whether you're just visiting or have lived here for years, the High Country Host has everything you need to start planing your perfect Parkway outing.

Closures on the Blue Ridge Parkway

NORTH (from Boone)

MP 244 to MP 241 at Doughton Park will be CLOSED
November 1, 2010 – April 29, 2011.
DETOUR: MP 248 (HWY. 18 N) 2 miles to Laurel Springs
and countiue on Hwy. 18 N toward Sparta for 13 miles. In
Sparta turn Right onto Hwy. 21 going 7 miles back toward
the Blue Ridge Parkway.

MP 244 to MP 241 at Doughton Park will be CLOSED November 1, 2010 – April 29, 2011.

DETOUR: MP 248 (HWY. 18 N) 2 miles to Laurel Springs and continue on Hwy. 18 N toward Sparta for 13 miles. InSparta turn Right onto Hwy. 21 going 7 miles back toward the Blue Ridge Parkway

SOUTH (from Boone)

MP 399 (Pine Mountain Tunnel) to MP 405 (NC Route 151) will be CLOSED November 1, 2010 – Spring 2011.

DETOUR: State Route 191 to State Route 280, interconnecting to State Route 276 in Brevard and then back to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

MP 466 (Sherrill Cove Tunnel) to MP 465 (Rattlesnake Mountain Tunnel) will be CLOSED November 1 – 5, 2010.

Down to one-lane therefore use caution and be aware of detours and delays!
